Hyperhidrosis

Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition characterized by excessive sweating beyond what the body needs for temperature regulation. It is more common than most people realize, and it is very effectively treated with neurotoxin injections.

Treating Excessive Sweating with Tox

Neurotoxin injections are one of the most effective treatments available for hyperhidrosis. The same botulinum toxin used for cosmetic tox treatments is injected into the affected area — typically the underarms, palms, or feet — where it temporarily blocks the nerve signals that stimulate sweat glands. Most patients see a dramatic reduction in sweating within one to two weeks of treatment.

Common Treatment Areas

Underarms (Axillary Hyperhidrosis)

Palms (Palmar Hyperhidrosis)

Feet (Plantar Hyperhidrosis)

Forehead and Scalp

Treatment is typically covered or partially covered by insurance for axillary hyperhidrosis. Ask your provider about documentation options at your appointment.

What to Expect

1

The Appointment

A topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area before the injections begin. The procedure itself takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes depending on the area being treated.

2

Results

Most patients notice a significant reduction in sweating within one to two weeks. Underarm hyperhidrosis treatment typically lasts four to twelve months, with many patients reporting results closer to six to eight months.

3

Maintenance

Repeat treatments are performed when sweating begins to return, typically every six to twelve months for underarm treatment. Consistent treatment over time often leads to longer-lasting results.
